You may have heard this week about the scientific breakthrough by the famous American geneticist Dr Craig Venter. The media claims he's created the first artificial life: A cell containing DNA that was built from scratch in a laboratory - - using four bottles of chemicals and a computer. According to experts, it's an achievement that goes way beyond regular genetic engineering; and it's a giant leap for the scientific world. But it's got a lot of people asking, "Is this ok?" "Does God want us creating artificial life in a petri-dish?"
Dr Brian Edgar is a theologian who's done a lot of thinking about this issue. He's from ISCAST - "the Institute for the Study of Christianity in an Age of Science and Technology". Hear his interview with Open House here.
