Protection for Whistleblowers

The federal government has just announced new plans for a whistleblower protection scheme for the public sector. The new laws are meant to give people more freedom to lift the lid on questionable practices in government departments... On things like corruption, misconduct, money-wasting and public safety issues. Peter Bennett is the head of Whistleblowers Australia; He's spent years campaigning on this issue, and he says the proposed legislation doesn't go far enough.

While it does decriminalise whistleblowing, it still doesn't protect people from harrassment and unfair dismissal in the workplace if you do blow the whistle on corruption.

Have you had an experience with whistleblowing?

Did you experience repercussions for shining a light on unjust or dishonest practices in the workplace?

Tell us your story.
